Thomas Vaterlaus - Class of 1951 VIEW PROFILE

Thomas Dale Vaterlaus passed away in Austin, Texas on August 4, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born in St. Charles, Bear Lake County, Idaho on June 7, 1933. He graduated from Montpelier High School and later graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education.

Thomas was married to Caroline Shumway with whom he had seven children. He was then married to Carrolyn McCullough and became a step father to three children.

He served in the United States Air Force for twenty years as a pilot and a personal director. He was honorably discharged at the rank of major. Upon retirement, he entered into entrepreneurial endeavors including his own vinyl repair business and real estate ventures.

Thomas was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Middletown Ward. Previous wards were Anderson Mill and Walnut Creek. He had been a branch president in Germany, Stake Executor Secretary in the Walnut Creek Ward, teacher, music chair person, and his favorite calling - choir director.

His favorite thing to do in life was to learn. He wanted to learn everything possible about current events, politics, health, alternative medicine, other lands, people, business, cars, and of course, flying.

Thomas is survived by his Children: Vicki Wright (husband Dr. Paul Wright), Michael Vaterlaus, Caralee McCullough (husband Mike McCullough), Laurie Smith (husband Brad Smith), Christoff Vaterlaus (wife Misty Vaterlaus), Kimberly Vaterlaus, Valerie Marcks (husband Jordan Marcks), Drew Alexander (wife Dr. Jeanette Alexander), Steven Alexander (wife Jennifer Alexander), and Shelley Alexander Cornia (husband Reed Cornia.) He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. His Brother is Dean Rick Vaterlaus (wife Barbara Vaterlaus)

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Stake Center of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1000 Rutherford Lane Austin, Texas 78753.
