DeWayne Swa, Jr. - Class of 1968

DeWayne L. Swa, Jr., 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne L. Swa, 456 North 11th Street, died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday in the Caribou County Hospital, Soda Springs, from injuries sustained earlier at 3:15 a.m. in a one-car accident on US highway 30 N, 6.3 miles east of Soda Springs.

Conan Ray Lewis, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Lewis, 728 Jackson, driver of the eastbound car, was reported to be in serious condition.Sheriff Ralph Marriott, investigating officer, reported the 1957 model four-door sedan went off the right side of the road and made four and one-half rolls, throwing out both boys. Lewis was a junior at Montpelier High School last year.

DeWayne L. Swa, Jr. was born March 4, 1950 in Soda Springs to DeWayne L. Swa and Evelyn Blechert Swa, life-long residents of Montpelier. He attended Montpelier elementary schools and was a sophomore last year at Montpelier High School. He belonged to the LDS Church.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Diana Swa, 20, and Shauna Swa, 13; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jean Follick; all of Montpelier.

Remains are at Matthews Mortuary pending funeral arrangements.

Although the accident did not occur in Bear Lake County, this was the third traffic fatality of a county resident this year, Alan Nate, 21, having been killed April 17 at Fish Haven, and Marvin J. Dixon, 22, on August 24, one mile west of Geneva.
