In Memory

Amanda Katie Crane - Class of 1999

Amanda Katie Crane Porter Scott, 44, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer that developed into Leptomeningeal Disease. She was born on a beautiful summer day, June 17, 1981, in Logan, Utah, to Stuart and Kathy Crane of Bennington, Idaho.

Amanda is survived by her devoted husband, Brad Scott; her beloved children, Blake, Daphne, and Lydia Porter; her parents, Stuart and Kathy Crane; and her siblings, Vince (Vanica), Travis, and Stephanie (Dave). She is also survived by her two grandnephews and one grandniece, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Amanda was preceded in death by her grandparents, with whom she now rejoices in a sweet reunion.

A lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amanda found great meaning in service. She held many callings throughout her life, but especially treasured ministering to the sisters in the various wards she was blessed to be part of.

Amanda faced her illness with remarkable courage, strength, and faith. She endured countless trials with grace and optimism, becoming an example of perseverance to all who knew her.  Her bravery during her cancer journey was a true reflection of her trust in her Savior.

Amanda’s joy for life was evident to all who knew her. She loved spending time with family and friends and was known for her loud, boisterous laugh that could brighten any room. She enjoyed traveling, exercising, going for walks, and doting on her dog, Murphy, who is truly part of the family. Amanda was a talented homemaker, decorating her home with love—especially at the holidays—and delighting her family with her excellent cooking.

Professionally, Amanda began teaching in the Bear Lake School District in August 2016. She taught 3rd grade at A.J. Winters Elementary for four years before moving to Bear Lake Middle School, where she taught 7th grade math for five years. She loved her students and had a gift for encouraging them to reach their potential. Amanda also had a lifelong passion for dance and cheer, participating for over 35 years. She shared that passion as the middle school cheer coach, where she guided and inspired countless young women to find confidence in themselves.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Bennington Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 202d, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and again on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:45 am, prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Bennington Cemetery.

Amanda’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported her throughout her journey with love, prayers, and acts of kindness.  The family would also like to thank all the medical teams who worked so hard to help Amanda and Symbii for their compassionate care. Her strength, laughter, and love will be remembered always.
