In Memory

Tennyson Bryan Sharpe - Class of 1996

Senior Chief Tennyson “Tenny” Bryan Sharpe, 46, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on September 11, 2024.  Tenny was born in Pocatello, Idaho on July 20, 1978, to Bryan and Sheila Grandy Sharpe.  He graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1996.  Tenny then enlisted in the US Navy,  reported for duty on 27 December 1996 and proudly served through his retirement on 31 July 2021.  Tenny was an accomplished sailor who earned numerous awards throughout his career. He set an example on how to excel, as well as how to be understanding and kind.  Helping others succeed was a lifelong gift he had. Tenny served at various ports around the world, all the while continuing his education and earning a Master of Business Administration degree. He was an accomplished, caring, loving, and giving man that will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.  The world is a better place because Tenny was a part of it.

Tenny spent most of his youth in Montpelier and grew up surrounded by family and friends.  One of his lifelong joys was spending time at Bear Lake.  Once Tenny retired with an honorable discharge, he loved being close to home and enjoyed spending precious time with his twin girls.  Tenny was an amazing father.  He had a bit of a competitive streak and made it his mission to beat one or both of his daughters at a game of golf whenever possible.  He was their biggest fan and cheered them on at practices and at various golf tournaments.  Tenny liked to travel with the girls and took advantage of any opportunity they had to visit family.  He lit up every time he talked about his daughters, and he had no greater joy than watching them become talented and beautiful young women.  Tenny had a passion for the unusual and took up cultivating rare plants.  He often posted photos on social media so people could enjoy the fruits of his labor.  One of Tenny’s greatest gifts was his artistic ability.  As a teenager he painted a mural on the walls of his bedroom that was truly incredible.  He took up making pottery after retiring and crafted beautiful creations that he would customize and paint for his family.  His work is stunning.

Tennyson was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan Sharpe and Sheila Sharpe Matthews, his grandparents, Tenny and Gwen Sharpe and Grant and Barbara Grandy.  Tennyson is survived by his son, Devon, his twin daughters, Bailee and Brylie, his sister, Tiffany Schlesinger, his nephew, Trent Schlesinger, his step-father, John Matthews, and countless loving aunts, uncles and cousins on both the Sharpe and Grandy sides of the family.

Visitation will be September 28, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Montpelier LDS 3rd/5th Ward Chapel.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be held at the Montpelier City Cemetery.  A lunch reception will follow at the 3rd/5th Ward Chapel.
