Gertrude Wuthrich (Sorenson) - Class of 1926

Gertrude Wuthrich Sorenson, 93, died Thursday, August 5, 1999 at the Bear Lake Skilled Nursing Facility in Montpelier, Idaho.

She was born April 13, 1906, in Montpelier to Samuel and Elizabeth Grossjean Wuthrich. She spent all of her life in Montpelier attending school and raising her family. She was a member of the Montpelier High School class of 1926, however she did not graduate.

On July 10, 1935, she married Arthur Paul Sorenson in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Her husband, Art, preceded her in death on April 23, 1994. They had two children, Gordon Paul (Sylvia) of Farmington, Utah, and Charles Samuel (Patricia) of St. Anthony, Idaho.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she worked in many of the auxiliary organizations of the Montpelier Third and Fifth Wards, and as an officer in the Stake Relief Society. She loved going to the temple, and she and her husband served as temple officiators in their later years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fly fishing and was very skilled at all types of handwork and crafts. Her greatest love was her family, and she especially enjoyed her 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 9, at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier Stake Center where friends may call that morning from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Montpelier City Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
