Lyle Stephens - Class of 1926

Lyle Clinton Stephens, 84, died Sunday, August 19, 1990 at Valley View Nursing in Logan, Utah. He was born April 14, 1906, at Bennington to Isaac and Mary Jane Spiers Stephens. He was educated in Bennington and Montpelier schools. He was a member of the Montpelier High School class of 1926, however he did not graduate. He married Stella Roderick June 24, 1925. She preceded him in death August 1, 1989. He was a farmer and dairyman all his life and was one of three dairymen in the state of Idaho to have a registered dairy herd. His animals won many ribbons at local and state fairs. He also worked at the railroad office for ten years. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was a High Priest. He and his wife were officiators at the Logan Temple for five years. Survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger L. and Barbara Stephens, of Logan; ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ellen (Royal) Peterson, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Mrs. Cleone (Calvin) Nielsen, Glendale, California. He was preceded in death by two infant children, one son, Lyle C. (Mickey) Jr. and one daughter, Doris Ray Hunt; one brother Claude and one sister, Mabel. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm in Bennington. Viewing will be Thursday at the family home from 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 11:30 am until time of service. Burial will be at Montpelier Cemetery.
