Our beloved brother and uncle, Brent Robert Skinner, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2025, in his home in Dingle, Idaho. Brent was a kind and gentle soul. Aunt Kelly said of Brent, “If he liked you, you knew it. If he didn’t like you, you probably knew that too. Brent was born to Kent and Emma Lou Skinner on November 10th, 1961. He was the third son of Kent and Emma Lou. Everyone who knew him spoke of his smart mind, organizational skills, and a memory that could recall every cow, their genealogy, what bull that they were bred by and any illnesses that each cow had had through the years. He could see a cow from the highway on the hill by windy flat and know which number it was by its body, and if it had already calved or not that year. Brent was a hard worker. He was very efficient and could get so much done in such a short time. In addition to his two big brothers, Brent had three little sisters. The sisters all agreed that Brent was the better cleaner, organizer, cook and baker, candy maker, gardener, and piano player of all of them.
Brent was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. He served as a Webelos leader, Primary pianist and ward clerk. He said his favorite calling was being in primary and seeing the cute kids and watching them learn.
Brent was a wonderful son to his parents. He loved being with our mom and shopping with her or cooking with her. He also was very dedicated to our father and the ranch that they ran together. Brent was very generous and kind to his siblings. Lou Ann said it was Brents special job to keep her from wandering down the middle of the road. He loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own. Bringing home a new baby to Uncle Brent was one of the great joys of his siblings. When the grandkids came to be watched, it was either in a tractor or a truck sitting in the middle of grandpa and Brent on the tagging box. He even bought a cooler with a flat lid so that the kid that went with him in the swather would have a place to sit.
Brent loved flowers and gardens. He especially loved his pea patch and would always plant a row of turnips for our dad to eat in the tractor or on the way to change sprinkler pipe in the morning.
Brents passing has left a hole in our hearts and in our lives. Our greatest comfort comes in the thoughts of him welcomed home with those that proceeded him in death. He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his brothers Greg Skinner of Dingle, Idaho, Alan Skinner of Georgetown, Idaho, and sisters Lou Ann Budge (Mark) of Paris, Idaho, Susan Crane (Colton) of Lander, Wyoming, and Angela Eschler (Edwin) of Roy, Utah and an honorary brother Michael Knapp (Carrie) of Bloomington, Idaho. Brent also has 25 nieces and nephews that love him and 37 grand nieces and nephews with two more coming soon and three great grand nieces and nephews. Brent had faith in Jesus Christ and a belief that families are eternal. We love him. We are honored to be his family and look forward to being with him again.
