In Memory

Nila Nelson (Kelsey) - Class of 1975

Nila Kelsey, 58, passed away on February 10, 2016 at her home in Paris, Idaho after a brave battle with cancer. She was still sharing her love, laughter, and smiles with those who surrounded her up until her passing. Nila was born August 25, 1957 to Nyle and Janet Nelson of Paris, Idaho and she was the oldest of four children. She and her siblings would often share many amusing and adventure filled childhood stories with family and friends. She met and later married the love of her life, Robert Kelsey, at the Paris Tabernacle on April 19, 1975. The couple enjoyed many years of happiness and shared activities including hunting, camping, and anything outdoors. They continued to enjoy going for drives in the jeep up the canyons or to the lake and having cook outs with many family and friends over their nearly 41 years together. The truth is, it was never “just Bob” or “just Nila” it was always “Bob and Nila"! The couple made their loving home in Paris where Nila was a wonderful and devoted wife and mother of two daughters, Sunshine and Bobbi.

Nila enjoyed many jobs throughout the Bear Lake valley over the years with her most recent employment having been at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital where she was well renowned for her delicious bread and other baked goods.

Nila is survived by her husband, Robert Kelsey, her daughters Sunshine (Derek) Westerbur of Howell, MI and Bobbi Kelsey of Paris, her parents, Nyle and Janet Nelson, and her two younger brothers, Chad Nelson, of Chubbuck, and Brett (Jill) Nelson, of Montpelier. She had six amazing grandchildren: Adam, Alec, Makenna, Aaron, Brenna, and Aidan and was excited about the birth of her 7th grandchild due this summer. Nila also greatly enjoyed cuddling and spoiling her grand-dog, Charlie. She was preceded in death by her younger sister Janell “Poo” Nelson Thomas and her sister-in-law Arvilla Crane Nelson.

There will be no funeral services at this time but a memorial celebration will be planned and announced at a later date.
