Linette Arnell (Phelps) - Class of 1975

Linette Arnell Phelps was born September 19, 1957, in Montpelier, Idaho to Lund Arnell and Dorothy Aileen Miller Arnell.  She grew up in Montpelier Idaho and graduated from Bear Lake High School.  She attended Idaho State University VoTec in Computer Science and Medical Secretarial.  While attending ISU, she started dating a 2nd-grade acquaintance, Rhett Phelps. They were married in Montpelier ID on May 27, 1977.  They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with three children, Amber Lin, Ashley Rhett, and Kalen Lewis.

Lin was a homemaker and farming partner with her husband. She worked from home as a seamstress, then as a computer aid at Bear Lake High School.  She then found her calling helping others in the nursing profession. She worked as a CNA for Bear Lake Memorial and at Bear Lake Internal Medicine for Dr. Clark. Lin decided to go back to school at ISU and earned her LPN degree. She went back to work for Bear Lake Memorial, then finished her career at Bear Lake Internal Medicine, where she touched countless people’s lives. 

Lin served for ten years in the Bear Lake County Ambulance Service until her health problems forced her to retire. 

Lin’s greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren who all loved staying at Granny’s house and going on adventures with Poppa Rhett and Grandma Linny. 

Lin died peacefully at home January 6, 2018, after enduring years of health problems.  She is survived by her husband, Rhett Phelps, three children Amber Sperl, Ashley (Jericca) Phelps, and Kalen (Brandi) Phelps;  Honorary Son RJ Sperl, her Mother, Dorothy Eck, sister Jan (Melvin) Pyne, and brother Alan Brooks. She is also survived by seven grandchildren- Riley, Dakota, Skye, Brinton, Cooper, Joshua & Maddox.  She was preceded in death by her father Lund Arnell, her Step-father Don Eck, her Grandparents, and her Aunt Jo.  

The Family would like to give many thanks to Dr. Clay Cambpell, Dr. Jack Clark and the outstanding nursing staff at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital with thanks and gratitude to the Bear Lake County Ambulance Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association.
