Ellen Renee Bischoff (Bateman) - Class of 1955

Ellen Renee’ Bischoff Bateman, 78, of Pocatello, Idaho, died on April 1st, 2016, at Portneuf Regional Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83201, 208-233-1500, with a visitation one hour prior. Evening visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the same location.  She will be interred at the Wardboro, Idaho Cemetery following the service. Thereafter, a luncheon will be held for family members in Wardboro.

Renee’ was born at Wordboro, Idaho where she attended school through the eighth grade.  She matriculated Montpelier High School in 1955. She completed her RN nursing degree through Ricks College, Idaho Falls nursing program in 1958. She used her nursing degree to support her family, while her husband, J. Michael Bateman, completed his medical training in Colorado, and Salt Lake City. She worked as nurse and office manager in support of the family urology medical practice in Pocatello through 2001.

The love of her life was her family. She was married in the Idaho Falls Temple to J. Michael Bateman, August 28, 1957. She is survived by her three children, Wade M. Bateman (Nola) of Boise Idaho, Tricia Bateman, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and J Michael Bateman, of Orem, Utah. She has 9 beautiful granddaughters, and 7 great-grandchildren, and she loved them with a passion. 

Renee’ was a self-taught piano player with a wonderful ear for music. She was active in the Idaho Medical Association medical auxiliary, and a member of the LDS church. She was an avid Bengal booster. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Alfred Bischoff and Ellen June Bischoff-Nate, and her brother, Garth Bischoff. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to J. Michael Bateman - E. Renee’ Bateman Sports Endowment Fund at the Idaho State University Bengal foundation.

Bill Beagles (1955)

Condolences to "Mike" and the Bateman Family.  Renee was a beautiful person, inside and out!  She's definitely in a better place, and will be missed by all those who loved her so very much.
