In Memory

Blaine Kunz - Class of 1945

Blaine Louis Kunz, 91, passed away peacefully October 6, 2017 at St. Luke's Magic Valley hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Blaine was born October 5, 1926 to Orlando Louis Kunz and Sylvia Magdalena Kunz in Montpelier, Idaho.

Blaine married his sweetheart Norinne Teuscher Kunz on July 22, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had four children, Ian Blaine, Dennis Courtney, Mark Louis and DeNae. Blaine loved to be with his family enjoying the mountains, streams and lakes of the beautiful Bear Lake Valley. He loved being outside whenever he could, especially with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sailing, canoeing, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, golfing and gardening.

Blaine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved serving and teaching the gospel. He was active in his Priesthood callings and had numerous callings in the church. He loved the scriptures and read them every day throughout his life. He was able to place copies of the Book of Mormon in the local motels in Montpelier. Blaine served in the scouting program for 40 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award.

He loved the community of Bear Lake. He volunteered for the Bear Lake County Ambulance for 25 years. He enjoyed helping and serving the community through the ambulance and church. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 40 years. Several of those years were spent as the Postmaster in Paris, Idaho.

Blaine loved words; he had a fun and quirky sense of humor and had a way of "Turning a phrase". He loved to write; he has left us countless journals with his testimony, his love of family and unique way of viewing life.

Blaine is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norinne Kunz of Twin Falls; his four children, Ian Blaine Kunz (Verla Jean) of Gooding, Idaho; Dennis Courtney Kunz (Lynne) of Saratoga Springs, Utah; Mark Louis Kunz (Beverly) of Delta, Utah; and DeNae Kunz Fisher (Kyle) of Kimberly, Idaho; as well as his 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. Louis and Sylvia Kunz; sister, Drusilla Savage and brother-in-law, Glenn Savage; sister, Deltha Dunker and brother-in-law, Jack Dunker; brother, Glenn Kunz; cousin, Ronald Ashley; two grandchildren, Dirk Kunz and Lindsay Kunz.
