Dorothy Aileen Miller Eck was born August 8, 1933 at the Miller homestead of John G. and Mary Inglis Miller to John Russell and Annie Elizabeth Petersen Miller in a little community called Tygee, just over the border in Idaho from Auburn Wyoming. She was the oldest of her siblings, with her brother, John David Miller being the middle child and her younger sister, Elizabeth Joan.
In March 1951 she married Lund Arnell and they added to their family two daughters, Jannine and Linnette, before Lund passed away in 1963.She later married Bruce Brooks and Allan was born, making her a mother of three.In the mid 90’s she found a wonderful and caring man, Don Eck, who she married in 1995 and they shared the love of traveling and family until 2001 when Don passed away.
She was a woman of many hobbies that kept her hands busy, and her yard and home beautiful with her gardening touch and her talent of sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and so many other projects. Her family meant the world to her and she loved spending time on many adventures with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Over the years her three children blessed her with 9 grandchildren. She has 24 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her oldest daughter, Jannine Pyne (Melvin) of Murtaugh, Idaho, her son Alan Brookes of Roosevelt, Utah, and son-in-law Rhett Phelps of Bennington, Idaho. She was preceded in death by both her parents, John Russell Miller and Annie Elizabeth Petersen Miller, husband Lund Arnell, brother John David Miller, husband Don Eck, sister Elizabeth Joan, and daughter Linnette Phelps.
She passed away on May 14, 2024
Her viewing will be on Monday, May 20, 2024, 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Bennington LDS ward meetinghouse, 24 East Center Street, Bennington, Idaho.. Her funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.
