In Memory

Ethel White (Jensen) - Class of 1949

Our beloved mother, Ethel Irene Jensen, 85, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in Ft Thomas, Kentucky, from complications following surgery. She was surrounded by her daughters who will miss her terribly.

Ethel was born June 16, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, to Ernest Stephens White and Helen Irene Field and when she was four years old, the family moved to Bear Lake, Idaho. Ethel attended school in Fish Haven and Nounan until the family moved to Montpelier. She started working in the Burgoyne Café at 14 and continued in this type of work for most of her life. She met Darwin Jensen while working in this café when she was 17. They were married in December 24, 1948 and after graduating from Montpelier High School, she then spent most of her life living in Ovid with him. They opened the Texaco Service Station together and she worked side by side by Darwin in this business. In fact, no matter what business Darwin did, she was working with him. When Darwin retired they traveled and then settled in Alpine, Wyoming, where they built a new home. He preceded her in death there in 1977. She lived and worked in Alpine for many years, and after retiring spent time traveling to see her children wherever they lived. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Emmett Kelch and Isaac Jensen.

Ethel had a great love for life and was remarkable in that she did everything she wanted. She had a great sense of humor and made friends easily no matter where she went. She was a hard worker with a great sense of honesty and integrity which she instilled in her children and grandchildren by example.

She is survived by her children, Shirlene, Dorthy (Campbell), Steven, Dennis and Kenneth, and grandchildren Alyson, Adam, Andrew, Benjamin, Requina, Amelia, Samuel, Becky, Julia, Asa, Vincent, Barry, Angela, Tanya, and Heather, and many beloved great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 9, 5 pm to 7 pm at the Cincinnati Ohio Stake Center in Lakeside Park, Kentucky. A memorial service will also be held at the Schwab-Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier on October 11, 1-2:45 pm. A 3 pm graveside service and dedication will follow in the Ovid Cemetery.
