LaMar Brown - Class of 1940

Melverton LaMar Brown 1922 ~ 2005 Melverton LaMar Brown, 83, passed away peacefully on 12 December 2005 in St. George, UT. He was born 25 July 1922 in Thatcher, Idaho to Melverton Cook and Inez Ovanda Balls Brown and was raised in the Soda Springs area. He served in the Navy in WWII. He graduated from Idaho State University in Pharmacy. He worked as a caring pharmacist in Idaho, Washington and Nevada. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Marie Briggs of American Fork, UT on 2 January 1943. They were later divorced, but remained friends. Surviving are their children; Wallace Brown, Las Vegas, NV; Marcia Gallacher (Kenneth), Henderson, NV; Carol Richins (Douglas), Kaysville, UT; and Nancy Oliver (Jay), St. George, UT; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He married Lucile Pixton Abrams of Sandy, UT on 22 September 1973. She brought much joy into his life. Lucile and her children survive him. Douglas (Kathy) Abrams, Salt Lake City; Kathy Abrams Ewell, Sandy, UT; Sharon Abrams Jenks (Jack), Hurricane, UT he is survived by two sisters, Ruth McCloy, Centerville, UT; Sheryl (Grant) Peterson, Idaho Falls, ID; and two brothers: Clark (Nina) Brown, and Ralph (Della) Brown, both of Soda Springs, ID. Preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Daniel Keith, and a brother-in-law, Ralph McCloy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home, 139 East 200 South in Soda Springs, with a viewing from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Soda Springs, ID.
