Forrest Jensen - Class of 1935

Forrest Jacob Jensen died on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at his home in Centennial, Colorado. He had just celebrated his 97th birthday. He was born February 3, 1919 in Wardboro, Idaho to Jacob Cannon Jensen and Vinnie Humpherys Jensen. 

He attended and graduated from Utah State University in 1939 with a degree in Engineering. He was married to Mary Lindsay of Salt Lake City, Utah in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 10, 1940. They were married for 76 years and four days. 

Forrest and Mary settled in Denver in 1940. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a major. He was a house builder and specialized in concrete construction applications. He enrolled in architecture courses at the University of Denver to expand his skills. After working in his own business, the Denver Construction Company, he joined Symons Concrete Forms and served as the company’s Western States Regional Manager. Forrest transferred to Glendora, California from 1970-1972, and returned to Denver with his family to work for K.C. Construction Supply Company. After his retirement Forrest continued with consulting work in the construction industry and became certified in the use of AutoCAD design software. He embraced the computer age and the Internet. Forrest was a downhill and cross-country skier and an experienced horseman. 

Forrest and Mary have four children. Today they have fifteen grandchildren, and fifty-three great grandchildren. 

Forrest served his community in many ways. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for forty years at the unit, district and council levels with many assignments, and received the distinguished Silver Beaver Award for his service. He served on an early air pollution study group in Denver. Forrest and Mary were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many teaching and leadership positions. Forrest was the bishop of his ward and presided over the Denver Colorado Temple. For many years he was patriarch in his stake. Forrest and Mary enjoyed travel and visited Great Britain, Western Europe, Russia, Israel, Africa, and Mexico, and particularly enjoyed their many visits to Hawaii.
