In Memory

Charles Fred Nate - Class of 1994

Charles Fred Nate (Charlie) was born March 4, 1976 to Judith and Fred Nate in Montpelier, Idaho and passed away with his family by his side on October 24, 2015 in Boise, Idaho. He attended elementary, middle and high school in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley, playing lots of baseball and basketball along the way. He graduated from Bear Lake High in 1994. Upon graduation, Charlie attended Boise State University and graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He was president of American Data Providers, Inc. which furnished information relative to foreclosures and other real estate information to realtors and investors. He formerly worked in the real estate title business.

Charlie had an infectious smile and was always eager to give new acquaintances and old a "high five." His smiles and wide-eyed enthusiasm were contagious and he spent more time smiling than frowning. He openly shared his zest for life and encouraged all those he met to live life to its fullest. All those who were a part of Charlie's life enjoyed a motto he lived by. "You never get hurt in the air. When in trouble, do a double. Speed is your friend. If you're not turning right, you best be turning left. And finally, go big or go home." Charlie always went home with a smile on his face and with anticipation of the next adventure.

Charlie loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snow skiing, fresh powder, first tracks, hiking, climbing mountains, backpacking and exploring all things nature. He found joy, solace and peace with a pack on his back trekking with friends and family or journeying solo. Of the many trails that Charlie forged or followed, he always found a secret spot to meditate and appreciate all that he was granted. Charlie loved the freedom of riding his motorcycle with the wind in his hair and the breeze in his face.

Charlie was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin. He is survived by his immediate family. His grandmother, Ruby Etcheverry of Montpelier; mother, Judith Nate Hanson (Raymond) of Boise; and his father, Fred K. Nate (Dianne) of Montpelier; one sister, Jacque Kober (Jim) and one brother, John Nate both of Boise, ID. His close cousins, Nathan, Christopher, Megan and Joe as well as his niece, Zoe, and nephew, Lucas will miss him dearly along with his aunts and uncles.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 30th at St. John's Cathedral in Boise, ID at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Idaho Humane Society. Planting a tree in memory of Charlie would also be appreciated. From all of Charlie's lifelong friends in Bear Lake, "He was easily the greatest friend we ever had. We will love you forever." "High Five" Charlie! Until we meet again.
