Harold Sorenson - Class of 1944

Harold Dean Sorenson, 38, Radioman 1st class in the Navy, died early Monday, December 23, 1963, at the home of his mother, Mrs. Anne Sorenson. He was here on leave from Norfolk, Virginia en route to a new station in California. He was nearing his 20 year retirement period.

Mr. Sorenson was born October 15, 1925, the son of Jessie T. and Anne Thompson Sorenson. He attended schools here and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1944. He entered Naval services, studying at Gonzaga and Whitman Universities under a Navy program. Among tours of duty he ahd been with NATO in Naples, Italy, and in the Caribbean with the Atlantic fleet. He is survived by his mother. Services were held at 1 PM Saturday in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel. He was buried in the Montpelier City Cemetery.
