Burton Suiter - Class of 1938

Burton Edwin Suiter, USAF (retired), died August 2, 2002 in Newport News, Virginia. Burt was born June 8, 1920 in Butte, Montana to Edwin Philip Suiter and Gladys Irene Burton Suiter and grew up in Montpelier, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1938. He enjoyed music and played tuba in the band. He joined the .Army Air Corps in May, 1941 and served in Europe during World War II. He waded ashore at the end of the war. He married Rosemary DiGiuro December 3, 1950 and together they had three children. He retired from the air force after 30 years in service in 1971. Burt was stationed in California, Bermuda, Korea and had his final assignment at Langley Air Force Base. After a one-year retirement, he joined Miller & Rhodes department store where he worked for ten years before retiring in 1982. Burt is survived by Rosemary, their son, Mark Burton Suiter, daughter-in-law, Beth Suiter and granddaughter, Rebecca Jeanette Suiter all of Yorktown, Va.; their daughter, Barbara Louise Coy, son-in-law, Lt. Col. Timothy Coy and grandchildren, Brian Timothy Coy and Laura Michelle Coy of Woodbridge, Va and their daughter, Nancy Suiter Pohimeier, son-in-law Lt. Col. Mark Pohimeier and grand-daughter, Kara Rose Pohimeier of Woodbridge, Va. A graveside service was held August 10 in Peninsula Memorial Park with Rev. Claude Marshall officiating. Interment was in the Peninsula Memorial Park in Virginia.
