Russell Hansen - Class of 1928

Russell Hansen, 85, died Nov. 4, 1993, in his home in Montpelier. He was born July 25, 1908, in Winnemucca, Nevada, to James Hyrum and Rebecca Gambling Hansen. He was the third of four children. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1928. He married Ida Bernice Kitty in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on Aug. 23. 1938. He was a member of the LDS Church, and had served in several positions. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service prior to his marriage, and then as a rancher in the Bear Lake Valley. Survivors include his wife of Montpelier; one son, Lynn Russell Hansen of Roseville, Ca.; two daughters, Verla Wallentine of Paris, and Lorna Scars of San Antonio, Tx.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gordon J. Hansen of Middleton, Id. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jess and one sister, Phyllis Wood. Funeral services were held Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. in the Montpelier LDS First Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Montpelier City Cemetery.
