Lewis Perkins - Class of 1927

was buried in the Bennington Cemetery.

Lewis David Perkins, 35, died suddenly at a local hospital from heart attack Monday morning, February 15, 1944. Mr. Perkins was born in Bennington March 19, 1908, the son of David Hunter and Carrie Romina Munk Perkins. He attended the Bennington school and graduated from the Montpelier high school in 1927, being prominent In athletics. He attended the B. Y. U. at Provo for two years, and graduated in 1935 at the U. S. A. C. In Logan with a B. S. degree. He married Virginia Hendrickson of Idaho Falls December 26, 1934 in Logan, Utah and they have made their home in Bennington, other than spending a winter in California. Mr. Perkins was a faithful, dependable and active L. D. S. worker, serving in various capacities as president of the Young Mens Mutual Improvement Association, stake M Men leader, and at present was stake YMMIA dance director, ward Boy Scout leader, and was a member of the Lions club. He was engaged in farming and had taken pride with his father in the accomplishments of their animals at county fairs and horse races throughout the country. He was loved by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife and son, David Kendall; his parents of Bennington; and the following sisters: Mrs. George W. Irving (LaPreal) of Montpelier, Mrs. Duzette Robison (Thelma) of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Lynn J. Crane (Mary) of Pocatello, and Miss Barbara Perkins, who is teaching school at Tootle, Utah; his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Munk of Montpelier, three nieces, two nephews, and many uncles and aunts who mourn his loss. Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his brother, Carlos M. Perkins in the Philippine Islands two years and two months to the day. Funeral services will be held In the Bennington ward chapel at 1 o'clock Friday, under the direction of Bishop Clarence L. Wright. Interment will be In the Bennington cemetery.
