William Parker - Class of 1940

Olean William Parker , 89, passed away April 6, 2011.  He was born January 9, 1922  to Oscar Thomas Parker and Hilda Maude Young in Wardboro, Idaho.  He was born with a rich heritage in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Olean married Marion Louise Brown  in the Logan LDS Temple May 21, 1945. They had five children.  They also have 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Olean grew up on the family farm in Wardboro.  As a young adult he built a two room cottage for his new wife.  He later moved to Montpelier.  He assumed the duties of the family farm.  He had a great love for the Bear Lake Valley.  In 1937 at age 15 he had his first ride on an airplane.  He devoted his time to becoming a pilot.  He worked many jobs and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1984.   The last few years of his life were spent in the Bear Lake Skilled Nursing Facility.  Funeral services were held in the Montpelier 3rd/5th Ward Chapel.  Interment was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
