Arlo Wuthrich - Class of 1937

Arlo W. Wuthrich, 98, of Boise, formerly of Weiser, died June 14, 2015 at Spring Creek Manor, Meridian, ID surrounded by his family and friends.

Born at home in Montpelier, ID on November 8, 1916 to Robert and Martena (Petersen) Wuthrich, the first of four boys. He graduated from Montpelier High school in 1937. Arlo began his 42 year career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher and then agent. His first two years on the railroad he worked for no pay until he was hired as an extra and sent from depot to depot as needed.

Arlo married the love of his life, Evelyn McCracken, from Soda Springs on August 15, 1946 in Pocatello, ID. They had been married two months short of 69 years. He loved camping in the Sawtooth Mountains, fishing, hunting, raising Brittany's, riding horses and gardening. He could fix and repair almost anything. Arlo and Evelyn had three children, Ryan, Sudie and Julie.

Arlo spent the majority of his life working in Hailey, Soda Springs, Wendell and Weiser. During his time in Wendell his family lived in the upstairs living quarters of the train depot. This was a unique experience that provided many fun adventures for his children.

In 1979, Arlo retired from the railroad. Arlo and Evelyn were able to travel across the US and Canada, with many trips to visit kids and grandkids.

Arlo is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and three children, Ryan Wuthrich and wife Terri (Johnson), Sudie Eisenbarth and husband Jeff, Julie Neumann and husband Lee. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ivan, Don and Farrell.

His family wishes to thank Spring Creek Manor for the care and support provided over the last six years of his life.

The family is planning a celebration of Arlo's life later this summer.
