Bernice Davis (Pendrey) - Class of 1933

Dora Bernice Pendrey passed away April 20, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a result of an automobile accident occurring in Logan, Utah.

She was born February 13, 1914, at Bern, Idaho to Alvin L. Romero and Pearl Rigby DavisMichaelson. She married Alfred Lowell Pendrey June 2, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held positions in all of the auxiliary organizations. She started teaching a Primary class the same year that she graduated from Primary. She served on the Primary and Genealogy Stake Boards many years. She was head librarian of the Bear Lake Branch Genealogy Library from its beginning to Dec., 1979, when she was released and started in the Irish Extraction Program and worked in that capacity until Dec., 1987.

She attended what is now Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. She graduated from the Utah State University in 1960 with a B.S. degree in education.

Co-editor of 25 cemetery records which covered 100 years of burials. These were microfilmed by the LDS Church, and a copy placed in the Bear Lake Genealogy Library. She was an avid collector of family histories and local history of Bear Lake County. She became a member of the Bear Lake County Free Library Board of Directors from June 7, 1972, until her passing.

She was principal of two different elementary schools, one in Idaho and the other school in California. She taught public school for 25 years at various times from 135 until retiring in May, 1979. She taught mainly at the Lincoln and A.J. Winter schools in Montpelier, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister and a brother. She is survived by her husband, and two sons, McKay Pendrey, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Paul Pendrey, Sandy; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, David Howard Davis, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Ray M. Davis, Georgetown, Idaho; her mother, Pearl Michaelson, Logan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Montpelier North Stake Center Sat., April 25, 1992. There will be a viewing two hours before the funeral at the Stake Center. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Matthews Mortuary. Burial: Montpelier Idaho City Cemetery.
