Carol Jean Lewis (Pitcher) - Class of 1961

Carol Jean Lewis Pitcher, wife of Sergeant Lorin M. Pitcher of Oceanside, California, was instantly killed in a car accident about 8 PM, December 24, 1966, at Oceanside. A woman passenger in the car driven by Mrs. Pitcher was also killed, according to word received by the family.

Mrs. Pitcher was killed on her 24th birthday, having been born December 24, 1942, in Montpelier, a daughter of the late Aaron L. Lewis and Marie Windley Sebold. Mrs. Pitcher attended Montpelier schools and graduated from Montpelier High School with the class of 1961.

She and Mr. Pitcher were married January 4, 1963 in Montpelier. She had since reside at Oceanside. Mrs. Pitcher was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are her husband, of the US Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Pendleton, California; mother, Mrs. Lewis H. Sebold of Montpelier; three sistersand one brother, Mrs. Russell K. (Marguerite) Sorenson of Ovid, Mrs. Diane Wheelock of Oceanside, California, Mary Lian Lewis and Evan Lee Lewis; two step-brothers, Frederick L. Sebold and Gary L. Sebold, all of Montpelier.

Funeral services were held in the Montpelier 3rd/5th Ward LDS Chapel. Interment was in the Dingle Cemetery..
