Lola King (Wright) - Class of 1933

Lola Pearl King Wright, 86, passed away Monday, September 25, 2000, at the Portneuf Valley Rehabilitation Center, Pocatello, Idaho.

She was born April 28, 1914, in Liberty, Idaho, to Thomas Clark King and Ruella Rogers King. She was the youngest of five sisters: Rowean King Wallentine Hess (deceased), Florence King Matthews (deceased), Nellie Mae King Hess (deceased), Vilate King Thomas Gummersall of Pocatello.

She married Weston H. Wright on October 28, 1931. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1982. They were sealed in the Ogden, Utah Temple June 14, 1983.

Lola is survived by four children, Roger W. Wright (Nikki), Roseville, Calif., Verla Marie Kunz (Wendell), Rio Rancho, N.M., Karen Williams (Don), Grayson, Ga., and Stephanie "K" Stewart (Charles), Pocatello, Idaho; 24 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Lola attended school in Liberty, Paris and Montpelier, Idaho. While attending school in Montpelier, she was instructed by Wesley Baker, the first music teacher in Montpelier High School, and became an accomplished soloist for him. She and Weston sang in duets, trios, quartets and choirs. They were in music festivals in Montpelier, Blackfoot, Pocatello and Salt Lake City, Utah.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was chorister in Primary, YWMIA and Relief Society for many years. She was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, and enjoyed attending senior citizens' functions.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 29, 2000, 2 p.m., at the Montpelier Second Ward Chapel. There will be viewings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 28, at Matthews Mortuary, Montpelier, Idaho, and one hour prior to services on Friday, September 29. Interment will be at the Montpelier Cemetery.
