McKay Kunz - Class of 1941

McKay Heber Kunz 65, died August 22, 1989, of complications related to diabetes. Born November 15, 1923 in Bern, Idaho, son of Heber Christian and Marie Clark Kunz. Married Lilly Wiest, November 21, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. Married Velma Mae Fagan, June 18, 1976, in the Logan, LDS Temple. He taught school in Idaho, Utah and Lyman, Wyoming. He also was a pharmacist practicing in Utah, Idaho and New Mexico stores. He earned a BS degree in pharmacy from Idaho State University and an MA from Brigham Young University in education. He served an LDS Mission in the Southwest Indian Mission, where he worked mostly with the Navajo tribe in New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. He was an Eagle Scout with 62 merit badges and later as a scouter was awarded the Silver Beaver. He had an avid interest in the sciences. He is listed in "Who's Who in the West" and "Men Of Achievement. He served as ward and stake organist and gave organ and piano lessons. He traveled with his son Jeff in all 50 states and 20 other countries. His writings included works about these travels. He was always active in his church. Surviving are his wife, Velma; two sons, Jeffrey K. Kunz, East Lansing, Michigan; Warren F. Kunz, Gainsville, Florida; five step children, William Robert Dean, David Dean, both of Layton; Nora L. Reyes, Madison, Wisconsin; Bruce Dean, Wendover, Nevada; Rick Dean, Fruit Heights; 18 grandchildren; five brothers, Leland Kunz, Bern, Idaho; Lyman Kunz, Wardboro, Idaho, Thiel Kunz, Pocatello, Idaho; John Kunz, Bountiful; Charles Kunz, Bern, Idaho. Viewing, Lindquist Kaysville, Mortuary, 400 North Main, Friday6-8 p.m. Funeral service Saturday, 10 a.m. LDS Chapel, 729 Shepherd Lane, Farmington, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment: Bern, Idaho Cemetery, 25 Miles north of Bear Lake.
