In Memory

Betty Quayle (Cunnington) - Class of 1940

Betty Jean Quayle Cunnington, 90, returned home to her Heavenly Father on September 9, 2012.

Betty was born on March 22, 1922, to Joseph and Mabel Quayle. She was the oldest girl of nine children. She spent her early years in Logan, Utah. Betty had many great years spent there and spoke of them often.

Her family had a ranch in Swan Lake, where her brothers worked with their father and the girls stayed back in Logan to work in the house with their mother. She always wished she could work on the ranch. She loved it their so much. Eventually they moved to Montpelier, Idaho. This is where she graduated from high school in 1940.

She married Joe Orchard. They had four children, Gerald, Sandra, Douglas and Dennis. They later separated.

Betty moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where she met and married Eugene (Gene) August Cunnington. Gene had one son when they wed, Eugene (Billy) William Cunnington. Billy quickly won Betty's heart. Gene and Betty had two children together, Michael and Candy.

Betty loved spending time with her family. She, Gene and all of the children spent a lot of time with her parents and siblings in Logan, where there were always cousins to play with and plenty of Swedish pancakes. Some favorite things to do on this trip would point out the Indian squaw with her baby on the hill, and we could never go by without looking for the kissing rocks that are hidden away.

Her children were everything to her. It didn't matter what they needed, she was there. Betty was the best grandmother of all times. Oftentimes she would walk in the door of her grandchildren's home and yell, "Who wants to spend the night with Grandma?" They would all come running.

Betty enjoyed camping at Bloody Dick, fishing and spending time at the Atom Club (which she and Gene owned) with her friends. She was always the life of the party, laughing and telling jokes,

Betty was a wonderful woman to her family and her friends. She was kind, loving, giving and protective. She leaves this world leaving all of us better people. She is loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She is going onto a new journey but we know she will continue to watch over us all. We love you, Grandma!
