She was born in Tygee, Idaho on Oct 1, 1905, to Samuel and Clemmence Draney. She was one of 23 children. Married Jess Hansen. Later married Eugene Lester Brown in 1936.She is survived by her children, Dayne (Alice) Hansen, Seattle, WA; Lois (Joe) Dillard, Glen (Joan) Hansen, and Darlene Williams, all of Salt Lake City, UT; Richard (Toy) Brown, Escondido, CA; as well as adoring grandchildren of three generations.

Irene was an inspiration to her family with her strong spirit, giving heart and devotion to her family. She spent countless hours doing volunteer work, especially for Kindly Gifts, crocheting over 150 afghans for people with AIDS.

A special thanks goes out to all of the nurses, aides and volunteers at CNS that made it possible for her to stay at home in the arms of her loving family until her departure, especially Jeannie, who gave such loving and attentive care.
