Ollma Irving - Class of 1938

O. W. (Sam) Irving, 67, passed away November 3, 1985 at his home in Pocatello following an extended illness.  He was born October 4, 1918 in Montpelier, the son of Sam and Minnie Hunter Irving.  He graduated from Montpelier High School and Utah State University.  During World War II he served with the Army and was stationed in Europe.  Since 1946 he has made his home in Pocatello where he was employed as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad retiring in 1977 after 37 years of service.  On March 17. 1962 he married Gladys Allen McFarland at Twin Falls.  He was a member of the Pocatello Fifth Ward for the LDS Church as well as a member of the Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the U.T.U. Union.  He enjoyed fishing, football and the outdoors.  Survivors include his wife, a son, two daughters and seven grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at the Manning Funeral Chapel in Pocatello.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Twin Falls.
