Kim Solum - Class of 1971

Kim Edwin Solum, 44, died Wednesday, January 14, 1998 at the Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello.  He was born September 19, 1953 in Boise to Edwin and Romola Hansen Solum.  He grew up in Georgetown where he attended elementary school and then graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1971.   He then moved to Englewood, California where he attended college at an airport academy and studied airport management,  While there he also certified as a rescue scuba diver.  After graduating he moved to Green River, Wyoming where he worked at Allied Chemical.  After a few months he ;moved back home to Georgetown.  He married Terry Black.  They had two daughters and were later divorced.  He later married Sandy Bassett.  They had two sons and were later divorced.  Kim then moved to McCammon where he lived and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 20 years.  He enjoyed the outdoors and many pastimes including hunting, fishing and camping.  He loved his children and enjoyed spending time with them.   He was a volunteer fireman and an EMT.  He was always the first to tease and last to be teased.  He was a trusting friend and a wonderful father.  He is survived by his parents and four children.  Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17 in the Georgetown LDS Chapel.  Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery.
