Cody Vilt - Class of 2011

Cody James Vilt was called home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. He is the son of Frank Vilt and step-son of Sheryl Bomsta-Vilt. Cody resided in Placerville, Calf. for the first 16 years of his life, where he had many friends. He and his father moved to Montpelier in Jan. 2011. Cody graduated from Bear Lake High School in May, 2011. Cody was studying engineering at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls and was also employed at The Times-News. Cody enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman and an expert snow border. He touched the lives of many and was a great friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Cody was preceded in death by his mother, Laurie Lee Vilt and sister, Amber Rose Vilt. Cody is survived by his father, Frank Vilt, Sr. of Montpelier, sister, Noelle Pilkington of San Diego, Calf., brothers Nickolas Vilt of Folsom, Calf, Frank Vilt, Jr. of Placerville, Calf, Jared J. Vilt of Victorville, Calf., brother, Army Staff Sergeant, Brandon Vilt, stationed in Savannah, Ga., and sister, Robin Lynn Vilt of Harrisonburg, Va., as well as, spouses and eight nieces and nephews.

When his father married Sheryl Bomsta, he gained additional brothers and sisters from the Bomsta family, Rebecca Schneider of Sterling, Colo., Eric Bomsta of Flanders, NJ, Grant Bomsta of Gilbert, Ariz., Brandon Bomsta of Portsmouth, Ohio, Rachel Powell of Wyndmere, ND, Lori Stafford of Enumclaw, Wash., John Bomsta stationed at Fort Drum, NY, and Zack Bomsta of Provo, Utah, along with spouses and 20 more nieces and nephews.

Cody was a registered organ donor and as a result of his passing, two individuals lives were spared by the donation of Cody’s kidneys. This is a special blessing to the recipients during this Christmas season.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19 at the Montpelier 1st Ward building, 485 S 7th St.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral. Internment will be in the Wardboro Cemetery.
