Michael Sims - Class of 2001

Michael James Sims, 21, passed away Monday, February 2, 2004, in Eugene, Oregon, from injuries sustained in a rugby accident. Michael was born Jan. 18, 1983, to Charles and Laurie Wilcox Sims in Montpelier, Idaho.

He grew up in Bear Lake while achieving many goals such as bowling, football, and baseball. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Michael graduated from Bear Lake High School in 2001, and started attending ISU that fall. He was in the nursing program with aspirations of moving into pharmacy. While at ISU, Michael was very active in his bowling club and the Rugby Club. He was also employed at Perkins.

Michael is survived by his parents, Charles (Chuck) and Laurie Sims of Georgetown; one brother, Charles Tyson Sims of Pocatello; one sister, Callie May Sims of Georgetown; grandparents, Dennis and RaeAnn Wilcox of Montpelier; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that will miss Michael very much. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Emily Sims, his great-grandmothers and one great-grandfather.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 at noon in the Georgetown LDS Chapel. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary on Friday evening, Feb. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday at the church from 10 until 11:45 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Georgetown Cemetery.
