Jacob Hardcastle - Class of 1996

Jacob Fuller Hardcastle, 28, passed away on Nov. 9, 2006, in Lund, Nevada. He was born on June 2, 1978, in Montpelier, Idaho, to James Boyce and Shannan Fuller Hardcastle. He grew up on the family farm in Bern, Idaho, where he grew to love and care for animals and knew the value of a good horse.

He acquired all of his schooling in Bear Lake schools, graduating from Bear Lake High School in 1996. He enjoyed being active in football, wrestling, and put his good horse to use while participating in rodeo.

Jake loved a good adventure and was always looking forward to seeing new things. His favorite times and memories are those he spent with his family, inclding his daughter, brothers, sisters, brother-in-law and sisters in-law, and cousins.

His numerous skills led him to occupations. including firefighting in the Rocky Mountains, well-drilling in Arizona, landscaping in Sun Valley, and a concession with his aunts and uncle in New Mexico.

Farming was always his favorite thing to do, so in between his travels he would do farm work whether it was with his family or close friends of Jake and his family, the Bartschis in Nounan or the Stewarts in Nevada. He had a great work ethic and respected and was respected by those he worked with and for whom he worked.

Jake had such a big heart and cared about his immediate and extended family and others around him. His greatest joy and happiness in his life came from his daughter, Isabelle, whom he loved more than anybody. He was so proud of her and always talked about her talents and accomplishments.

Jake was preceded in death by his sister, Tara. He is survived by his daughter Isabelle, his parents, James and Shannan, of Bern Idaho, his brothers, Ben (Laney) of Houston, Texas, Dan (Brandi) of Paris, Idaho, Will of Bern, Idaho, his sisters, Crystal (Larry) Gillette of Gooding, Idaho, Abby of Bern, Idaho, nephews Tayten, Charles, Izak, Preston, and Frank. He is also survived by his grandparents, Leon and Alice Hardcastle of Preston, Idaho, and Frank and Phyllis Fuller of Farmington, N.M., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at 12 noon in the Bern Ward Chapel. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, and from 10-11:45 a.m on Monday at the LDS chapel in Bern. Interment will be in the Bern Cemetery.
