Byron Romrell - Class of 1974

Byron Dee Romrell, 45, returned home to his Father in Heaven following a short illness and complications from leukemia. He passed away at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sunday, June 10, 2001.

He was born April 29, 1956, to DeMar W. and Darlene Welker Romrell in Rexburg, Madison, Idaho. The Romrells moved to Pegram, Idaho in 1960. Byron lived in Pegram until 1988, when he moved to Montpelier, Idaho.

He graduated from ISU in diesel mechanics in 1976.

He married LaRae Bird on Aug. 5, 1977, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Byron was an active member of the LDS Church, and held many positions, including Elder's Quorum President and Branch President. At the time of his passing he was serving in the Montpelier Idaho Stake Mission presidency, the calling he loved and enjoyed the most.

Byron worked for Bear Lake County Road and Bridge, and for the past 20 years for the Idaho Transportation Department working as a foreman for the last 13 years. He was very concerned about his job, and always cared for the safety of those traveling in the Bear Lake Valley.

Byron loved attending his children's ball games, spending time with his family, and spending time on the ranch in Pegram. He was blessed with a warm personality, good sense of humor and many wonderful friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, LaRae, sons, Shadron and Dalton, daughters, September and Sari Jo, all of Montpelier; parents, DeMar and Darlene Romrell; brothers, DeLoy (Mary Lin) and Kerry (Verna Rae) of Pegram; sister, Sheila (Rex) Payne, of Montpelier; and a grandmother, Mary Romrell of Malad.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16 at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier Stake Center. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary on Thursday evening, June 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.Burial will be in the Montpelier Idaho Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
