Kirt Price - Class of 1971

 Kirt Dee Price, 55, passed away November 23, 2009, at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital, of pancreatic cancer, with his family by his side. Kirt was born September 22, 1954, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Kenneth Merlin and Virginia Kunz Price, the second of five children. He attended school in Montpelier and was a member of the LDS Church. He was active in the Scouting program during his youth. He played football for Bear Lake High school and enjoyed many activities with his friends. He graduated from high school in 1971.

Kirt attended the diesel mechanics program at ISU in the fall of 1971, and started working at Western Road Machinery shortly after graduation. He got on at the Chevron Mine in Kemmerer, Wyoming in 1974, and worked there for 35 years.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and would travel once a year to Las Vegas to attend live races. He enjoyed farming and working with his nephews and brother on the family farm in Geneva, Idaho.

He lived in Montpelier all of his life. He was a member of the LDS Fourth Ward in Montpelier, Idaho, and served as ward clerk for many years. He was serving as stake financial clerk in the Montpelier South Stake at the time of his death.

Kirt is survived by his mother, Virginia, of Montpelier; sister, Merlyn Sorensen, Pocatello, Idaho; brother, Carson (Jan) of Montpelier; sister, ReNee (Alex) Jensen of Logan, Utah. He is also survived by nieces, Megan (Tommy) Watkins of Boise, Idaho, Tricia (Jed) Woolstenhulme of Montpelier, Andrea and Nicole Jensen, Logan, Utah; nephews, J.C. (Adriana) Price, of Geneva, Idaho, Jed Price, of Smithfield, Utah, Marcus (Shona) Sorensen of Lehi, Utah, and Shawn Jensen of Logan, Utah. He is survived also by his favorite great-nephews, Rippey Jackson, Boise, Idaho, Ruben and Jake Price of Geneva, Idaho, and Cooper and Porter Woolstenhulme of Montpelier, Idaho. He enjoyed many hours playing with them. WE will miss you, Uncle Kirt!

Kirt was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, and a younger brother, Hal Mark. 
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2009, at noon in the Montpelier Fourth Ward LDS Chapel. Friends may call prior to services from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. There will be a night visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, Idaho. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery
