Ralph was a friend from school day 1 for me at the Montpelier Lincoln School.  I played sports with Ralph through my senior year in high school and over the years gained a growing sense of the very steep hill he had to climb to be able to accomplish his life objectives.  His achievements of fufilling a mission, graduating from college and creating a stable home and family that for most would seem normal,  were not normal for Ralph.  I salute Ralph's memory for all he did to achieve these goals, as well as for serving his country in the military, which I recall he did, and for becomming truly a self-made man.  He won the Whitman Trophy and was never as self-confident as his athletic achievement would have warranted.  He was a truly humble man and I am sure that there are lasting memories of this modest individual in the islands of the South Pacific.

Ralph was a example to all that new and went to school with him.  He was a Phoenix to many.  How many years we enjoyed his fast ball, sitting behind the plate & catching for him, what fun we had at the church softball tournaments in Salt Lake, thanks to him we almost went all the way.

He help translate some of the Book of Mormon into his Mission's language.  Another Pelierite also helped with that.  He was,one of the better spellers in school.  Most of all, a great friend from the past and someone I admired.

God bless his family, for the example that he was for them and the foot print he leaves to follow.
