Lowell Davis - Class of 1937

Lowell Terry Davis, 41, former Dingle resident died January 26, 1961 in a Boise hospital following an extended illness.  The son of Nelson William and Edna Davis, he was born October 27, 1919 in Dingle and graduated from Montpelier High School.  He served in the 5th Marine Division from 1943-45 and was one of the few men to survive the battle of Iwo Jima.  He was married to Alice Swenson on November 20, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple.  In June 1941 they moved from Green River, Wyoming to Boise where he was employed in the post office.  In 1947 he started with Western Conveyer Company and was shipping foreman at the time of his death.  He was an active member of the LDS Church working with Boy Scouts and Explorer troop committees and MIA basketball.  He loved music and started singing solos when a small boy at the Rich theatre.  He also received superior ratings as a singer while at Montpelier High School.  He was a member of both Fourth and Ninth Ward choirs in Boise and a member of the Mormonaires LDS male chorus.  He is survived by his widow,  a son and a daughter.  Services were held in the Boise 4th Ward Chapel.  Interment was in the Cloverdale Memorial Park in Boise.
