Sherwood Hauck - Class of 1927

Sherwood Dunn Hauck, Soda Springs, passed away Friday morning of a heart attack while hunting with his brothers, Eldon and LaVan.  He was born November 28, 1908 in Montpelier to Charles H. and Priscilla Jane Lindsay Hauck.  He and Ella Weaver were married June 4, 1934 at Ogden.  He had served a mission for the LDS Church in Germany and was a high priest.  He had attended schools in Montpelier and had attended the Idaho State University in Pocatello.  He had lived in Seattle many years and had owned and operated a sporting goods store and had been a writer for the Seattle Times newspaper.  He was an outstanding musician and sportsman and had a rating for the outstanding salmon fisherman in the Pacific Northwest.  He had qualified for the 1932 Olympics in wrestling in the lightweight class and had won second place in the National AAU.  He had served as president of the Washington State Sports Council and president of the King County Sports Council.  Since living in Soda Springs he was employed by the US Forest Service.  Survivors are his wife and two sons.  Funeral services were held at the Hooper Avenue LDS Chapel.  Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.
