Charles Nate - Class of 1918

Charles Russell Nate, 76, Salt Lake City, died October 1, 1976 of natural causes.  Born October 21, 1899 in Dingle to Charles C. and Emma May Bird Nate.  He was the oldest of nine children.  Married Gwen Cole December 20, 1923 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1918 and from the University of Utah School of Mines in 1923.  He worked for Utah Apex Mine and Utah Copper Co. at Bingham Canyon and in the Kennecott Copper and Union Pacific Railroad engineering departments.  He worked in Salt Lake City associated with New Park Mining Co., East Park City as manager during part of 1938-39.  He was involved in mining activities in Nevada and Utah.  He was a cattle rancher in Idaho and Wyoming and a veteran of World War II in the European theater.  He was a retired Major in the Army in 1959.   Member of the LDS Church.  Survivors include his wife, a son, two daughters and nine grandchildren.
