Louise Speirs (Mickelson) - Class of 1940

Louise Speirs Mickelson, 69, died September 20, 1992 at her home from cancer.  She was born May 5, 1922 in Montpelier to Lorenzo Harrison and Mary Delilah VanOrman Speirs.  She married Franklin Michael Mickelson January 15, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple.  She was reared in Bennington and graduated from Idaho State University with a teaching certificate.  She lived in Grace most of her life before moving to Mesquite, Nevada in 1969 where she had since resided.  Active in the LDS Church she served as Relief Society president, Primary president, music director and in the MIA program.  She loved to quilt and crochet and crocheted the altar covering for both the Las Vegas and St. George Temples.   She also enjoyed bowling.  She is survived by seven sons, two daughters and 38 grandchildren.  Funeral services were held in Mesquite 11th Ward Chapel.  Interment was in the Mesquite City Cemetery.
