Leon Booth - Class of 1945

Leon Elwin Booth, 69, died at his home on June 14, 1996 after a battle with cancer. He was born on June 2, 1927 the son of Elwin D. and Maria Elizabeth (Wells) Booth in Wardboro, Idaho.  He graduated from Montpelier High School and then served honorably in the US Navy during World War II.  He continued his military service in the Army National Guard for 33 years including active duty during the Berlin crisis.  He Married Jean Covert in Paris, Idaho.  They divorced.  He married Dena Steed in Afton, Wyoming.  They also divorced.  On May 28, 1977 he married Elaine Louis Henley in Evanston, Wyoming.  He was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt, fish and camp.  He was a skilled marksman and had an extensive collection of many different firearms.  He served his community as a volunteer fireman in Afton for many years.  In Evanston he was a charter member of the Elks Club.  He was a member of the LDS Church.  He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and 19 grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston today, June 18,1996.  Burial will be in the Evanston City Cemetery.
