Wayne George - Class of 1936

Wayne Woodrow George, 80, died Saturday, October 19, 1996 at his home in Bennington.  He was born September 11, 1916 in Montpelier, Idaho to Parley Parker and Areta Phelps George.  He married Marion Virginia Parker on December 22, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple.  He grew up in a family of four children.  Four other siblings died at birth or as young children.  He spent all his growing up years in Montpelier.  He served in the Air Force during World War II.  He worked as a welder in the mining and phosphate industry and also managed a small farm on the side.  He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served as a teacher, bishop, high councilor and an Irish name extractor.  He enjoyed leather working, designing, wildlife and inventing many practical implements.  Wayne is survived by his wife, three sons along with 14 grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 22, 1996 in the Bennington LDS Chapel.  Burial was in the Bennington Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
