Dayle Dayton - Class of 1956

Dayle C. Dayton, 59, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 1997 at his home in Montpelier.  He was born February 13, 1938 in Dingle a son of Cyril G. and Myrtle Jane Toomer Dayton. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1956.  He enlisted in the US Army in 1961 and received an honorable discharge in 1964.  He Married Gail Gardner October 21, 1965 in Paris and they have three daughters.  He worked at Central Farmers and El Paso Products until its closure.  He moved to Van Horn, Texas to work for El Cove Chemical until December 1968 when he was injured.  He was an avid sportsman involved in baseball, basketball and football.  He coached little league baseball and was a certified referee.  He loved to hunt, fish, camp and snowmobile.  The greatest joy of his life was his children and grandchildren.Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10 in the Montpelier First and Fourth Ward Chapel.  Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
