Ruth Berrey (Walton) - Class of 1929

Ruth Berrey Walton, 94, passed away of natural causes at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Walton was born July 5, 1909, in Wardboro, Idaho, to Adam LaMar and Julia LaReva Bissegger Berrey. She was the oldest of nine children and is survived by her only daughter, Rosalie W. Michaelson; her sister, Mina B. Lorenz; and two brothers, Garth D. Berrey and Milton Jay Berrey. Ruth was married to Joseph Brigham Walton in 1931, and the couple were sealed in 1933.

Ruth was very active in civic activities including being an emergency dispatcher for Montpelier for more than a decade. She was very politically active, with friendships formed with Frank Church and Cecil D. Andrus. Sewing and works with church genealogy were just a couple of the interests occupying Ruth's latest accomplishments. Ruth's extensive family will miss their loving and caring grandmother, aunt, and great-grandmother.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m., in the Montpelier Fourth Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary on Sunday evening, Oct. 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and on Monday at the church from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Mrs. Walton will be laid to rest in the Montpelier Cemetery following the services.
