Earl Jensen - Class of 1930

Winslow Earl Jensen, 87, passed away on Sunday January 3, 1999 in Logan, Utah.

He was born November 7, 1911 in Montpelier, Idaho, the son of Oren Leroy and Myrtle Weaver Holmes Jensen. He married Bonnie Zellas Dobson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He received his education in Montpelier, Idaho. He joined the service in 1933 and while stationed at Ft. Douglas in Salt Lake City, he was chosen a member of the Drill Team and served as Honor Guard to F.D. Roosevelt, when he dedicated the Boulder Hoover Dam. He worked at the Utah Naval Supply Depot as head of the Preservation Division. He received the Meritorious Award, the second highest award bestowed on a civilian by the Navy. He was an insurance agent for the Equitable Life Insurance Company and also worked at Thiokol and Utah State University, until his retirement in 1976. He always loved music, his guitar, singing, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was a volunteer at the Logan Senior Citizens Center and he was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family and was so proud of them.He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Logan, Utah; four sons and four daughters, Sandra L. Ashman, Russell W. Jensen (Jacque); Roger E. Jensen, Karen C. Ferraro (Mike); April A. Burgos; Michael D. Jensen (Mary); Randy R. Jensen (Marsha) and Linda C. Christensen; 32 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Winefred Davidson; Jack Jensen and Beverly Frank. He was preceded in death by a son, Conrad D. Jensen and a brother, Grant Jensen.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, January 7, 1999 in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center Street, Logan. A viewing for family and friends will beWednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Mortuary and on Thursday, one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
