Sylvester Hart - Class of 1934

Pfc. Sylvester E Hart, 29 of the Marine Corps, previously reported missing in action, was killed in action February 21 in the performance of his duty and service of his country, his widow, Mrs. Opal Robison Hart of Bennington and parents Mr. and Mrs. C R Hart of Raymond, were informed Fridayby General A A Vandergrift, commandant of the Marine Corps. A graduate of Montpelier High School with the class of 1934, he was a letterman in football.  He continued his education at BYU.  He was called on a mission to the Central States on November 18, 1940.  On March 17, 1943 he enlisted in the Marine Corps and took his boot training in San Diego.  From there he went to Barstow supply depot where he was first assistant  in the Sunday School presidency and class leader for the trail builders.  While home on furlough he married Opal Robison in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
