Donniel Jensen - Class of 1932

William Donniel Jensen, 61, well known Montpelier businessman, was killed Sunday, September 8, 1974, in a train-auto collision at a railroad crossing in Soda Springs. A son of Lars William and Ethel Findlay Jensen, now of Paris, he was born February 5, 1913, in Ovid.

The family moved to Montpelier where Mr. Jensen attended schools, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1932. An automobile mechanic by trade, Mr. Jensen, was service manager of Intermountain Chevrolet Company in Pocatello from 1941 to 1955. Until time of death he had been associated with Thomas G. Wood in a partnership, operating the Jensen-Wood Motor Company at 205 North 4th Street. The concern has the Dodge dealership as well as an implement business.

An outdoorsman and sportsman, Mr. Jensen enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also took an interest in civic and school affairs.

Mr. Jensen and Frances Jean Solum were married December 7, 1933 at Paris. Besides his widow of Montpelier and parents of Paris, he is survived by two sons, Terrell D. Jensen of Montpelier and Derrell E. Jensen of Jackson; six grandchildren; and two brothers and two sisters, DeWayne Jensen of Ogden; Mrs. LeRoy (Loye) Patterson of Pocatello, Blake D. Jensen of Montpelier and Mrs. Dewin (LaNae) Andersen of Soda Springs.

Services at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Montpelier LDS Third-Fifth Ward Chapel were conducted by Bishop Donald E. Kunz. The prayer at Matthews Mortuary was offered by Dewin Andersen. Following the invocation by Paul Adams were obituary and remarks by Jon Hyde; vocal solo, Max Haddock; speaker, Bishop Kunz; vocal solo, Ruth Kay Andersen and benediction, Thomas G. Wood.

Interment was in Montpelier Cemetery and Alfred Jensen gave the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Warren Wright, LeRoy Ludwig, Lloyd Scofield, Nicholas Tsakrios, Robert Briggs and Ken Samson; honorary, Roy Patterson, Bill Hayes, Eddie Solum, Thomas Wood, Welby Solum and Dewin Andersen.
