Vernon Kunz - Class of 1933

Vernon Leon Kunz, age 84, died February 28, 2000 at his home in St. George, Utah.

He was born in Bern, Idaho on Oct. 11, 1915 to Martha and Robert Kunz. He graduated from Utah State University and served an LDS mission in the Eastern States. He married Edna Madsen July 17, 1940 in the Manti Temple. She passed away March 15, 1981. He married Lucile Sedweeks Nelson in 1982. Vern served in World War II in New Caledonia, Philippines and Japan. Following his tour of duty, Vern returned to Manti, Utah and served as Bank President of Manti City Bank and later Zions Bank. He was also very active in the LDS Church serving in church positions as Stake President, and Patriarch for over 30 years. Vern, after retirement, worked in St. George for Sun Country Chrysler as an accountant and enjoyed his associations immensely.He is survived by his wife, Lucile, of 17 years; and family members: Robert (Peg) Nelson, Steve (Mirreo) Nelson and Roger (JoAnn) Kesterson; 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Manti LDS Tabernacle.
