LoNetta Sorenson (Messerly) - Class of 1937

LoNetta Sorenson Messerly, 83, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs, Idaho. Born Sept. 4, 1919, to Charles and Amelia Sorenson at Dingle, Idaho, she was the fifth of six children.

She married Lloyd Richard Messerly on June 29, 1940, and their marriage was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

She was the mother of three children, Karen, Richard and Russell. After their marriage they made their home in Montpelier, Idaho, until 1959. They then moved to Soda Springs, Idaho, and resided there until 1966, at which time they returned to their home in Montpelier, until their recent move to the Caribou Memorial Living Center.

LoNetta was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including a five-year service mission with her husband in the Logan temple.

LoNetta's entire life was devoted to serving her family. Her kind and caring nature seemed to extend itself to all those she came in contact with. She was constantly going outside of herself to ease the burdens of those around her.

LoNetta is survived by her husband, Lloyd; a daughter, Karen (Brent) Bergholm of Soda Springs; a son, Russell (Virginia) Messerly of Sandy, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Becky Messerly of West Weber, Utah; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold (Teddy) Sorenson of Ivans, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, a son, Richard, and a grandson, Jason Messerly.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier Fifth Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery, with funeral services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
