Herman Skinner - Class of 1937

Herman Skinner, 84, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2002, at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier. He was born October 12, 1917, in Montpelier, Idaho, to David Hunter Patterson Skinner and Bertha Emilia Marie Ladewig. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

He attended school in Eight Mile, Nounan, and graduated from Montpelier High School. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked for Lee Dorney and Hall Ranch and then became a section foreman on the U.P. Railroad until his retirement. He owned and operated a hay and cattle ranch until his health wouldn’t let him any more. 

Herman is survived by two sisters, Esther (Warren) McMurray of Liberty, idaho, and Betty (Lamond) Wilcox of Montpelier; many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Clifford, and five sisters, Mary Dorney, Goldie Chugg, Evelyn Seesee and Dorothy Gortcinsky. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 12 noon in the Dingle LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Dingle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
